Writer Spotlight: Adrian Drew

Like Sam and Necko, Adrian was one of the first writers to apply to write for BlakeWrites, and his application was another one that I really couldn't say no to. Adrian is the kind of writer who knows how to come across as authoritative and in control without sounding pretentious.

You can check out Adrian's articles here, and you can find his stellar publication, Mind Cafe, here.

Where are you from?

If it’s easy, it probably isn’t worth it.

What do you do in your free time?

I read, write and play both drums and piano.

What are your favorite topics to write about?

Personal development, health and philosophy.

Are there any blogs, podcasts, or vlogs that you can't get enough of?

I'm a big fan of The School of Life, as well as The Ground Up Show podcast by Matt D'Avella.

What's something you've written or worked on that you're particularly proud of?

I manage and edit a publication called Mind Cafe. My recent article, 'The Three Pillars of Happiness', went viral last week. I'm proud of it because it's something I worked pretty hard on that hard work paid off - without me having to try and market/'growth hack' my way to views.

What would your dream job be and why?

To be honest, I'm already working my dream job. I manage a publication that teaches people how to live happier and spend my days writing articles in coffee shops with friends, traveling and learning more about myself and the world. I don't feel as though I've worked a day in my life for the past three years.

Why do you write?

I recently came across a quote by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, 'You don't write because you want to say something, you write because you have something to say.' I write because, like most of us, I'm just trying to make sense of the world as I grow older. I think we can all help one another to do exactly that, and I guess that's why I write - to teach others what it all means as I learn along the way.

What do you hope readers get out of your work?

My primary aim in writing what I write is that I want to teach others how to live the happiest lives possible. Granted, I don't have all the answers. That's why I created a space through which myself and other writers can educate readers and share their experiences. I called it Mind Cafe, and I hope that readers take from our articles simple tips that they can use to live better.

We have to ask... boxers or briefs?
