The Self-Himprovement Mission
Hey there– Self-Himprovement owner and editor in chief, Blake, here. From the beginning, Self-Himprovement's mission has been a simple one with profound implications.
We empower folks to build their best lives by creating BS-free content focused on wellness, health, and personal well-being.
I started Self-Himprovement because I was tired of seeing content targeted at Millennial men, like myself, that was shallow, reductive, and limiting. So much of the media I'm told should reflect my life doesn't actually do that. I believe that there's more to life than sports cars, penthouse apartments, and sex appeal. I think men of all walks of life– regardless of ethnicity, income, body type, or how well they match societal standards of masculinity– should be empowered to:
- Build their ideal lives
- Enrich their relationships with others
- Feel more comfortable in their own skin
- Have the tools they need to define was success looks like for them, and to then pursue it.
While the majority of our readers are men (a whopping 74%) and our content is focused on personal wellness that's free of toxic masculinity, please know that if you're not in the male spectrum or not on the gender spectrum altogether, you're also welcome here. I often say that even in a men's publication, it's important for non-male voices to be represented and to have a seat at the table. Consider this a digital version of me pulling your chair out and inviting you to have a seat.
If you're looking for a TL;DR, my mission for Self-Himprovement is to build up a community of folks who want to be happier, feel more fulfilled, and live the best version of their lives possible.
With a focus on fitness and wellness, I'd like to highlight that we do our best to continuously be a body-positive publication. We believe that anyone can benefit from being more active and investing time in improving their health; exercise and movement don't have to be tied to weight loss or aesthetics.
